Christmas Songs For Kids

I use the song BINGO and teach the children a song with lyrics as follows:

There is a man we know so well,

And SANTA is his name Ho

And SANTA is his name HO!

Each time we leave off a letter we substitute the word HO in its place. The children make a Santa and I give them the letters S A N T A to put under his picture. I also give them five HO’s so that they can cover up the letters as we sing the song. The children learn how to spell SANTA very quickly and have alt of fun with the song learning how to sing HO HO HO HO HO in a big Santa voice!

Clop, clop, clop went the donkey’s feet.

Clop, clop, clop down the stoney street.

Nod, nod, nod went Mary’s head

She was so tired, she needed a bed.

Knock, knock, knock went Joseph at the door.

Do you have room for anyone more?

No, no, no the innkeeper said,

I don’t even have one more bed.

Wait, wait, wait the innkeeper said,

You can use my stable for a bed.

Shh, Shh, Shh what is that I hear?

The cry of Baby Jesus, oh so dear.

5 little reindeer, standing by the gate,

1st one said, “Hurry, don’t be late.”

2nd one said,”Did I hear Santa call?”

3rd one said, “Careful, now, don’t fall.”

4th one said, “It’s time to load the toys!”

5th one said, ” Merry Christmas, girls and boys!!”

I made little “reindeer heads” from brown paper, wiggle eyes, and red chenille balls, and attached them to each finger of little white gloves, for the children to wear while chanting this verse. They love it!

Twinkle Christmas Star (tune: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)

Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star

How I wonder what you are.

Shining high up in the sky

Show the Shepherds (Wisemen) where Christ lies.

Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star.

How I wonder what you are.

“Toys on the Christmas Tree”

(Tune: This Old Man)

This little drum–on the tree

Santa put it there for me

With a boom-boom, rat-a-tat

Christmas Day is so much fun!

This little train–on the tree

Santa put it there for me

With a chug-chug, choo-choo

Christmas Day is so much fun!

This little doll–on the tree

Santa put it there for me

With a Ma-ma, Ma-ma

Christmas Day is so much fun!

Two merry brown eyes,

A cute little nose,

A long snowy beard,

Two cheeks like a rose,

A round chubby form,

A big bulging sack;

Hoo-ray for old Santa.’

We’re glad that he’s back.

Santa Claus is big and fat.

He wears black boots and a big red hat.

His nose is red, just like a rose;

And he “HO, HO, HO’s” from his head to his toes.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, little reindeer

Stand beside the gate;

“Hurry Santa,” said the five, “So we will not be late.”‘

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, little reindeer;

Santa said, “Please wait.’

Wait for three more little reindeer,

And then that will make eight.”

Five little bells hanging in a row; (Fingers hanging down)

The first one said, “Ring me slow.” (Wiggle thumb)

The second one said, “Ring me fast.” (Wiggle index finger)

The third one said, “Ring me last.” (Wiggle second finger)
