Counting and Sorting Activity
Have purple and pink candles. Children can sort them by size and color. When they are done sorting them. They can count them. The candles represent the candles on the Advent Wreath.

Advent Calendar

Aim: To improve a child’s numeric skills

Materials needed: 25 small envelopes, 25 pegs, a string of tinsel, suitable sweets, stapler.

Method Use the envelopes and put sweets in for the advent calendar. Ask the children to decorate the envelopes, put numbers up to 25 on the envelopes and put sweets inside them while the children are not there. Attach the envelopes to the string of tinsel using the pegs and hang across the nursery.
