Valentine’s Day Songs

Below is a new idea on the second verse of this absolute favorite:

1st verse

I’m gonna wrap myself in paper

I’m gonna dab myself with glue.

Stick some stamps on top of my head

And mail myself to you.

2nd Verse

I’ll put a big heart on my forehead

And it’ll say “Will you be mine?”

I’m gonna climb up in your mailbox today And be your Valentine.

There’s A Big Red Heart (It’s a Small World)

There’s a big red heart down inside of me. A big red heart no one else can see. And it’s filled to the brim with the love from within. There’s a big red heart in me.

This Little Heart (Chant)

Give each child two little heart stickers, place on the index finger of each hand use as puppets and chant the following:

This little heart is here to say, (hold up one heart) That this little heart is loves you today. (hold up second heart) These little hearts sing a song, (wiggle index fingers as say the lines) Wishing you happiness all day long.

I care about my friends,

I hold them in my heart, (place hands up to your heart) We’re always together, We’re never apart (quickly place hands behind back)

We do this in our class- I am not sure what the tune of the song is….

“I wish I had a little red box to put my (child’s name) in I take him out and (smooch, smooch, smooch) and put him back again”

The children really love it when you use a box, we covered a large cardboard box in red paper.

I wrote a letter to my love

And on the way I dropped it

A little doggie picked it up

And put it in his pocket

He won’t bite me

And he won’t bite you

But he’ll bite the one who’s got it

So drop it, so drop it

It must be dropped by now.

One child has a valentine in their hand and goes around the circle deciding who’s back they’re going to drop it behind. As the song says, by the last line the child drops it and the child who has the valentine chases the other before they can then sit in the open spot.
