Valentine’s Day Snacks

Valentine’s Wreath

Coat bottom of bundt pan with non-stick spray, sprinkle candy hearts all over the bottom of bundt pan. Follow recipe for mixing Rice Krispy Treats, except add a little red food coloring to butter mixture to make it pink and mix and press into bundt pan. Flip out and you have a beautiful wreath with hearts on it.

Introduce a friendship theme to coincide with Valentine’s Day. We make Friendship Salad (It’s really ambrosia): Fruit Cocktail Marshmallows Coconut (optional) Let the kids help you pour the ingredients into a large bowl. Pass the bowl around and let everyone have a turn to stir it. The kids love this activity! It makes them feel as if they have really made something with their friends and it’s delicious!

Krispie Kisses

Follow directions on the box to make Rice Krispies Treats. Press the completed mixture in a funnel. Remove from funnel and wrap with colored Saran Wrap! Attach a strip to the top of the “kiss” with a Valentine’s phrase of the child’s choice. These make cute gifts for parents.

Valentine Fruit Pie

For a quick treat, I take a graham cracker crust, empty 1 can of strawberry pie filling in it. Top with Cool Whip. Use the little conversation heart to decorate the top. Set in the refrigerator about 2 hours. Presto, a Valentine Pie (my 2-year-old Loves this and enjoys putting the candies on top, I have her count them as she places them to help her counting skills, I did this with my nieces and nephews when they were young too and now they do it with their children)

I like to make a heart shaped cookie Pizza for Valentine’s day. I use the slice and bake sugar cookie dough. I slice the cookie dough about 1/4″ thick and place on cookie sheet to form a heart. I press the edges together until it is one big heart shaped cookie pizza. I bake until golden brown, not too long, 15-20 min. Cool and frost with butter cream frosting tinted pink. Decorate with valentine candy, M & M’s, conversation hearts, etc. This is a big hit! I deliver this to school in new Pizza boxes that I purchase for $1.00. Great for all ages!
