sung to (who ate the cookie from the cookie jar)

instead of that, class says- who ate the turkey from the table top? Salena ate the turkey from the table top. “who me?” all- yes you. “couldn’t be!”- all- then who? go in circle, giving every child a turn, i like to pass around a turkey stuffed animal, so we know who ate the turkey.

Tune: Have You Ever Seen a Lassie?

Oh, I’m glad I’m not a turkey

A turkey, a turkey

Oh, I’m glad I’m not a turkey on Thanksgiving Day.

They’ll stuff you and bake you

And then they’ll all taste you…

Oh I’m glad I’m not a turkey on Thanksgiving Day!

Five Little Turkeys

Five little turkeys by the front door, (Hold up five fingers.) One waddled off, then there were four. (Bend down thumb.) Four little turkeys out under the tree, One waddled off, then there were three. (Bend down pointer finger.) Three little turkeys with nothing to do, One waddled off, then there were two. (Bend down middle finger.) Two little turkeys in the noonday sun, One waddled off, then there was one. (Bend down ring finger.) One little turkey-better run away!

Soon it will be Thanksgiving Day. (Bend down little finger.)

Jingle bells is a favorite of our Head Start kids anytime of year, so when they started singing it today, we rewrote it to fit with the Thanksgiving theme-

Jingle Bells

Turkey Smells

Sweet Potato pie

My tummy is so full of food

I think I’m gonna cry

Lots to eat

Oh how sweet

this special time of year

Family and friends around

Thanksgiving is here.
