Thanksgiving Songs

Here is a turkey with his wings spread wide…
He see’s the Farmer coming and he tries to hide..
He runs across the barnyard with a Wobble, Wobble, Wobble,
Talking that Turkey talk
Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

The First Thanksgiving (twinkle, twinkle)

Pick the corn and pick the beans,

Pick the squash and other greens

It is harvest time you see

Come and share a feast with me.

Bring your family out to play,

We’ll call this Thanksgiving Day

Turkey Dinner (Tune: Are you sleeping)

Turkey Dinner, Turkey Dinner

Gather Round, Gather Round

Who will get the drumstick?

Yummy Yummy drumstick

All sit-down, all sit down.

Cornbread, muffins,

Chesnuts, stuffing,

Pudding pie ten feet high.

We were all much thinner before we sat for dinner!

Me, oh, my me, oh, my.

Bert The Turkey (A Thanksgiving Rap)

A Turkey named Bert thought he’d make up a dance,

And he’d dance it for the king and queen.

If he did a good job and they liked it a lot,

Then they wouldn’t eat him, cuz that’d be MEAN!

He went sli-i-i-de, close, sli-i-i-de, close,

Shake your tail and wiggle your nose!

He went sli-i-i-de, close, sli-i-i-de, close,

Flap your wings and touch your toes!

DANCE, DANCE, BERT DESERVES A CHANCE!

DANCE, DANCE, BERT DESERVES A CHANCE!

Make your own rap beat and clap to the first part. Then slide first to one side (one foot at a time) shake your “tail” and wiggle your nose (with your finger). Then repeat slide to other side and flap your wings etc. When you sing/shout “Dance, Dance etc. have kids wave or shake arms high in the air! Our kids loved this so much we did it for the Holiday Program and the parents thought it was GREAT!

Hello Mr. Turkey

–to the tune of “If Your Happy and You Know It”

Hello, Mr. Turkey-How are you?

Hello, Mr. Turkey-How are you?

With a Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

And a Wobble, Wobble, Wobble

Hello, Mr. Turkey-How are you?

Repeat and clap in between verses

Albuquerque Turkey Sung to My Darlin Clementine

Albuquerque is a turkey

And he’s feathered and he’s fine

And he wobbles and he gobbles

And he’s absolutely mine!

He’s the best pet you can get yet

Better than a dog or cat

He’s my Albuquerque turkey

And I’m awfully proud of that!

And my Albuquerque turkey

Is so happy in his bed

‘Cause for our Thanksgiving Dinner

We have spaghetti instead!

A Turkey Ran Away Sung to tune of “Farmer in the dell”

A turkey ran away,

Upon Thanksgiving day, said he

They’ll make a roast of me

And so I will not stay.

(Continue with other Thanksgiving foods)eg. A cranberry ran away….. they’ll make a sauce of me… A pumpkin ran away… they’ll make a pie of me… etc.

Turkey, Turkey (tune: Twinkle, Twinkle)

Turkey, Turkey look at you

please be careful what you do

Thanksgiving Day will soon be here

We eat turkey every year

Go and hide out in the woods

We’ll eat pizza as we should.

THANK YOU

Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, Baby too will say;

“Thank you, thank you, thank you on this Thanksgiving Day.”

MR. TURKEY AND MR. DUCK

Mr. Turkey took a walk in a very fine way.

Mr. Duck took a walk on the very same day.

They walked together-gobble, gobble, gobble;

Quack, quack, quack.

Goodbye Mr. Turkey, goodbye Mr. Duck.

THANKSGIVING TIME

Thanksgiving Day will soon be here.

It comes along but once a year.

If I could only have my way,

We’d have Thanksgiving every day.
