Thanksgiving Songs

Let’s Be Thankful (To the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

Let’s be thankful for this day
Four our friends and our play
Let’s be thankful; let’s be glad
For our food and the things we have
Let’s give thanks for you and me
And our home and family.

Fat Turkey’s Song (to the tune of “Did You Ever See a Lassie?”)

Oh, gobble, gobble, gobble,
Fat turkeys, fat turkeys.
Oh, gobble, gobble, gobble,
Fat turkeys are we.
We walk very proudly and gobble so loudly,
Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble.
Oh, gobble, gobble, gobble.
Fat turkeys are we.

The turkey is a funny bird
Its head goes Wobble-wobble;
And all he knows is just one word…
GOBBLE-GOBBLE GOBBLE!

Thank You Song (Sung to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”)

Thank you for the sun so bright
Thank you for the moon at night
Thank you for my family
Thanks for friends who play with me
Thanks for everything I see
I am thankful, yes sirree!

(This is a great song to do with sign language)

Sing to the tune of “Did You Ever See A Lassie”

I’m glad I’m not a Turkey, a Turkey ,a Turkey
I’m glad I’m not a Turkey on Thanksgiving Day
They stuff you and bake you
And then they will taste you
I’m glad I’m not a Turkey on Thanksgiving Day!

Mr. Turkey (to the tune of “Frere Jacque”)

Mr. Turkey, Mr. Turkey
Run away, run away
You better be careful
Or you’ll be a mouthful On Thanksgiving Day.

Hello, Mr. Turkey Hello, Mr. Turkey, how are you?
Hello, Mr. Turkey, how are you?
With a wobble, wobble, wobble and a gobble, gobble
Hello Mr. Turkey how are you?

For Thanksgiving each year we sing the “Fat Turkey” song with our 3 and 4-year-olds. It goes like this:

Gobble Gobble Gobble
Fat Turkey, Fat Turkey (putting hands in front of stomach to appear hefty)
Gobble, Gobble, Gobble Fat Turkey’s are we
We Gobble so proudly We gobble so Loudly (shouting)
Gobble, Gobble, Gobble, Fat Turkey’s are we.

Mr. Turkey (tune: If you’re happy and you know it)

“Gobble Gobble, Gobble Gobble” says the bird.
“Gobble Gobble, Gobble Gobble” says the bird.
Mr. Turkey Gobble Gobbles, and his feet go Wobble Wobble.
“Gobble Gobble, Gobble Gobble” says the bird.

There’s a big, fat turkey
Out on Grandpa’s farm.
And he thinks he’s very gay.
But you’ll hear him singing
In a different style,
When it comes Thanksgiving day!

Five Fat Turkeys

Five fat turkeys are we.
We slept all night in a tree.
When the cook came around,
We couldn’t be found.
That’s why we’re here you see!
