First make sure that you don’t have any children in your class who are allergic to nuts or nut products.
Talk about how squirrels love nuts and that they bury them in the ground. In your water table have sand and nuts. Let a child bury a nut and another child see if he/she can find it.
Get a variety of nuts in the shell. Walnuts, peanuts, pecans, pistachio, brazil, filberts, acorns, etc and introduce their names. Let the children taste them and graph their favorites. Mix them all together and have them sort them by putting all the same kind of nuts together.
