Reindeer Art Projects

Reindeer Art Projects for preschoolers through second grade.

Bend a large wire coat hanger into a diamond shape. Cover with a tan knee-hi stocking, tying at the top with a Christmas ribbon. Make antlers out of brown paper or foam paper and glue on top behind the bow. The eyes can be very large google eyes, or made from paper. A large red pompom makes the nose, and black yarn glued in place is the mouth. Jingle bells can be added, and depending on the age of the children you work with, they can make glasses, freckles, etc.

Trace child’s foot and hands. Either cut for them or allow them to cut out the foot and handprints. The foot is the reindeer head and the hands are the antlers. Glue on along with googly eyes and a pom-pom nose!

Using the outline of a reindeer’s head, trace onto brown construction paper. Then allow the children to cut out adding eyes and a red nose. Use tracings of their hands for the antlers. Glue the hands on to the back of the head. Children love to see their reindeer with their hands for the antlers.

Supplies-
three craft sticks
red pom poms
google eyes
gold pipe cleaners

Paint craft sticks brown and glue in a triangle shape. Position triangle with point down. Glue eyes on top craft stick and pom pom on the point on the bottom. Twist pipe cleaners into antlers and glue to the back on top. Attach a string or magnet.

This is one of my favorite reindeer art projects.  Assemble a band of tan construction paper around child’s head. Have them trace their hands on brown construction paper. Have them cut these out ( you can use 2 or 4 handshapes). Then affix them to each side of the headband. Have them draw a circle on red construction paper and cut out for a red nose. Put tape on back of circle to stick to their nose. The children love being Rudolph. Sing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.

Paint a toilet paper roll brown. When dry hole punch two hole on both sides of top. Twist on brown pipe cleaners for antlers. Glue on googley eyes, a red pom pom nose, and a nice bow on the bottom half. Easy craft, lots of fun, and turns out very cute!

Take black construction paper and white paint. Let the kids splatter the white paint everywhere! Then glue on a red pom pom. This is Rudolph’s nose! Very Cute!!

Take a candy cane and wrap around a brown pipe cleaner for the antlers. Glue on wiggly eyes and a red pom-pom nose on the hook part.

We always make triangle reindeer art projects in my preschool class. We cut a large triangle and add the children’s handprints for antlers and add eyes of choice and a large red or black pom pom for the nose depending on which reindeer they are making.

  1. Have the students place dry oatmeal and red sprinkles in a plastic ziploc bag. Attach a note to the bag, “Magic Reindeer Chow.”
Please sprinkle on the yard on Christmas Eve so the reindeer will come. (Taken from the Mailbox)

  2. These are so cute! Put brown paint on the bottom on the child’s foot, make print on light brown construction paper. This will make the face. Turn the paper around, making sure that the toes are on the bottom, heal on top. Paint their hands brown and stamp the right hand on the left side of heal and the left hand on the right , this will make the antlers. Have the child glue wiggley eyes and a red pom-pom of the face to complete the reindeer.
