Olympic Songs

I’m a teacher from Sydney, so all I’m doing with my kids at the moment is Olympics Olympics Olympics! Do you know the song “We’re going to the zoo, how about you”? I’ve adapted the words for different sports. It’s very easy to do, for example “See the swimmers a swim swim swimming, Racing down the pool they’re swim swim swimming, Looking so cool as they’re swim swim swimming, So we’ll go swimming too (children then imitate swimming motion).

The kids love it and it can be adapted to whichever sport is being discussed.

The Olympic dream Tune: “The Oscar Mayer Theme Song”

Oh, I wish that I could be in the Olympics,
I wish that I could run and have some fun.
For if I could run in the Olympics,
I’m sure that I’d be number one!
***Substitute other types of Olympic activities, such as swim, jump throw, for run.

Since the Olympics are in Australia, how about about this old favorite that I learned as a round.

Kookaburra

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry, merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh kookaburra, laugh kookaburra
Gay your life must be!
Ha ha ha ha
