Health & Nutrition Songs

Wash Wash Wash Your Hands (Tune of Row Row Row Your Boat)

Wash, wash, wash your hands.
Wash them nice and clean.
Wash them on top, wash them on bottom and fingers in between.
(Sing twice through while washing hands in bathroom)

The tune is Frere Jacques:

Tops and Bottoms, Tops and Bottoms, (Rub top and bottom of hands)
In between, In between, (Rub fingers inside on both hands)
All around your hands, All around your hands, (Just like it says)
Makes them clean. Makes them clean. (Flash all ten fingers)
All around, All around

A hand washing song to the tune of Wheels on the bus.

The soap on your hands goes sud, sud, sud.
Sud, sud, sud.
Sud, sud, sud.
The soap on your hands goes sud, sud, sud.
And the germs go down the drain.

This is a “story-poem” I wrote based on the story “Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See”

Brown Bun

Brown Bun Brown Bun what do you see? I see a green pickle looking at me.
Green pickle, green pickle what do you see? I see a red tomato looking at me.
Red tomato, red tomato what do you see? I see some yellow cheese looking at me.
Yellow cheese, yellow cheese what do you see? I see a brown patty looking at me.
Brown patty, brown patty what do you see? I see brown bun looking at me.
Brown bun, brown bun what do you see? I see a hungry child looking at me.
Hungry child hungry child what do you see? I see a hamburger looking at me.
YUMMY!!!!! Let’s Eat!!

In an army voice while marching, call out this song: “We are healthy little ones (we are healthy little ones), watch us jump and watch us run (watch us jump and watch us run). Healthy bodies, healthy hearts (Healthy bodies, healthy hearts), we are winners from the start (we are winners from the start!)” After the teachers sing out each line, the kids repeat after you; ya know, just like the army does in boot camp. Get it?

Red Food (tune I’ve been working on the railroad)

Red is the color for an apple to eat.
Red is the color for cherries, too.
Red is the color for strawberries,
I like red food don’t you?

This Is The Way We Wash Our Hands

This is the way we wash our hands
Wash our hands
Wash our hands
This is the way we wash our hands
To keep our bodies healthy

This is the way we eat good food
Eat good food
Eat good food
This is the way we eat good food
To keep our bodies healthy

This is the way we……….
Have the children name other things they can do to keep healthy and include them into the song.
