Cookie Theme Ideas

Cookie Theme Ideas for preschoolers through second grade.

During our cookie unit we read “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”

To go along with our unit we made a cookbook “If You Bake a Mouse a Cookie.”
Each child brought their favorite cookie recipe and we made a cookie cookbook for each family. The parents loved it! This would make a nice gift!

Playdough cookies. make one large batch of homemade playdough and divide it into thirds. One third, mix cocoa powder into. One third, mix ginger and cinnamon into. The other third mix vanilla into. The children can use the different playdoughs to make chocolate chip cookies, vanilla wafers, etc.

We made a “Cookie Jar, Cookie Jar, What do you see?” book similar to Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you see. Use construction paper, crayons, markers, etc. to “make” different kinds of cookies for each page. We made chocolate chip, peanut butter, Oreo, snickerdoodle, Christmas cookies, etc. End the book with “we see children wanting to eat us, that’s what we see.

Great December nametags: cut boy/girl gingerbread shapes from craft brown craft foam; children decorate with collage material (glitter, rickrack, buttons, glitter glue, etc); write the child’s name on their tag. We make a craft paper cookie jar cut out and hang the nametags on push pins. Each one is different – each is special.
