8-20-00For baptism we do tye- dye shirts. I do an extra piece of old white fabric to start the lesson off. After I dip the fabric in red dye I cut it in half and allow the children to look at it. They can see how the dye goes through the fabric not just on the outside. This activity helps me to explain that baptism is a change that happens on the inside as well as the outside. If you can't tye-dye you can do this activity with tissue paper and a tray of food color/water mix. Contact_FullName:
Date: 2-9-00For our February hall bulletin board, I had each of the children paint two large precut hearts red or dark pink, then when they were dry I stapled them together, stuffing with tissue paper before sealing them. Then the class used heart-shaped cookie cutters to print a variety of heart sizes and colors on a piece of white bull. board paper to fit our board. When dry, the paper was put up, the 3-d hearts were added, and I added the caption "Jesus Loves Me" in red fun foam letters. Our "song of the month" for February is "Jesus Loves Me". If you teach in a public setting, you could change the caption to something like Valentine Friends.
Date: 1-19-00Just got this in my e-mail box from Hsboatlady on Children's Ministry. It's a great idea for January!!! First have children make a snowflake from a coffee filter. When unfolded, brush on some glue and sprinkle with iridescent glitter. Let dry. Have children mount them on a piece of construction paper and then have them glue this poem along with it: This is my snowflake, I made it myself. If it were real, it would quickly melt. It wouldn't be around forever and ever. But there is one thing that won't leave us, no, never. It is God's Love for each of us all. He will never leave us, He's there when we call. So if I feel sad or just need a friend, I can always turn to God, on Him I can depend! Date: 1-10-00Door knob hangers! I used fun foam, but poster board would work too. I used a motel maid door hanger as a pattern. Let the children write their names on with markers, then let them glue a variety of media like feathers, spangles, etc. on them. Our memory verse was Revelations 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. We talked about how some times we get preoccupied and forget to open the door for Jesus, and our door hangers will remind us that Jesus is always there knocking ready to come in and be a part of our lives!
Date: 1-19-99I teach 2 & 3 three year olds. when teaching the children that Jesus' loves them we do the following activity. Take a paper plate & around the outside of the plate print... Who does Jesus Love? In the middle of the plate glue a shiny piece of aluminum foil cut into a circle. when the children look in the "mirror" they'll see Jesus loves them!! |
