Have the children sit in a circle. Talk about some things we can trust Jesus to give us. Then say: Let's pray. I'll start, and you take turns around the circle saying one thing you're thankful for. If you don't want a turn, ask the next person in the circle to take the turn. "Dear God, Thank you for giving us ___ Amen"

Here's a song we sing in our Morning Circle time, that's sort of a prayer. (I don't really know the tune to tell you how we sing it. It just sort of has a rhyming sort of tune.)

I Love you Lord

I love you Lord at the break of day, I love you, Lord, as I work and play, I love you, Lord, as the sunset ends the day, I love you, Lord, every hour of the day.

I use a song that we have used in our contemporary worship services at church and change it a little to fit our Thanksgiving theme. The song goes like this: Thank you, Lord, for this fine day. Thank you, Lord, for this fine day. Thank you, Lord, for this fine day. Right where we are.

Alleluia, praise the Lord! Alleluia, praise the Lord! Alleluia, praise the Lord! Right where we are.

I ask the children to think of things we are thankful for and we put these words in the song in place of "This fine day". We have even gone so far as to illustrate what they are thankful for and then the kids can hold up their illustrations as we sing the song.
