For this project you will need several shades of green construction paper, a small amount of yellow paper and a small amount of black paper and a red pipe cleaner. The idea is based on Matt. 6:33 Seek first the kingdom of God. I taught the kids that God wants us to talk with him first and we can do this each morning by praying when we get out of bed. So we made a frog and on the lily pad we wrote "Hop up and pray". With one shade of green cut out a lily pad (shaped like a kidney bean). With the other green cut out a circle smaller than the lily pad and fold in half, glue this to your lily pad and it is your frog with his mouth wide open. With the frog green color cut out two froggy looking feet and slip them under your frog mouth and glue. The eyes are the yellow paper with black dots in the middle, make them large so they show up really good. These can be glued so they stick up off the top of the frogs mouth. Finally take a red pipe cleaner and twist it into a funny shape and glue it inside the frog's mouth, this will be his tongue. These turn out really cute and you can play leap frog too.

Have the children go outside and find a small flat rock. Wash & dry them and then let the children paint them with acrylic paints. When dry write PRAYER ROCK on it. Spray with a clear coat lacquer. My memory verse with this lesson was: Always be joyful and never stop praying. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17...
