Idea:

The following song is by Fr Modupe Taylor-Pearce, and Anglican Priest from Sierre Leone. Its not technically about Jesus being born, but since it is to the tune of Jingle Bells, we sing it at Christmas time!

1. J-O-Y, J-O-Y,

This is what it means:

Jesus first

Yourself last

And others in between

2. J-O-Y, J-O-Y,

Romans Thirteen Nine

Love your neighbor as yourself

And this will give you Joy

E: Learning about Jesus, listening to his voice

Obeying his word, joyful all the way.

Listening to his voice, Obeying his word.

O what fun it is to have Christ Jesus in my heart - Oi!

(Repeat whole song)

Take Me Out to the Stable

(tune/"Take Me Out to the Ballgame)

Take me out to the stable,

out to where Christ was born.

Show me the manger he

used for his bed.

Show me the sweet doves

who cooed by his head.

And let's look way up

at the heavens,

look for the star where He lay.

For it's why -- we -- have

Christmas morning.

It's Jesus' birthday!

For it's why -- we -- have

Christmas morning.

It's Jesus' birthday!

The baby in the manger went waa-waa-waa, waa-waa-waa, waa-waa-waa, the baby in the manger went waa-waa-waa, all through the night.

The fifth one said " He will bring us goodness and light

We little snowmen, so colorful and bright
are here to say thank you with all our might.
We not only have a nice place to play
we get to learn about God and we get to pray.
Our teachers are so sweet and they really do care
even though they ask us to clean up and they ask us to share.
Today we are learning about snow and winter.
Oh what fun we have at this center.
So if you need a friend, a friend in deed
come to our room and you will see.

Twinkle twinkle little star.
That shown so bright upon that night.
You led the shepherds unto the site.
A manger of hay where the new baby Jesus did lay.
There was no inn for them to stay.
The Virgin birth forever changed the way our lives were made.

This is a cute poem. I CAN'T GO TO BETHLEHEM

I can't go to Bethlehem far across the snow, But I can go to church and learn Of Christmas long ago.

I can't see the manger crib where Baby Jesus lay, But I can wheel our baby out and mind him everyday.

I can't give such gifts as gold, The wise Men had to show. But I can give a smile and love to everyone I know.

The following is more of a poem, rather than a song.

Santa's Prayer
Author:  Unknown

The sleigh was all packed, the reindeer were fed,
But Santa still knelt by the side of the bed.
"Dear Father," he prayed "Be with me tonight.
There's much work to do and my schedule is tight.
I must jump in my sleigh and streak through the sky,
Knowing full well that a reindeer can't fly.
I will visit each household before the first light,
I'll cover the world and all in one night.
With sleigh bells a-ringing, I'll land on each roof,
Amid the soft clatter of each little hoof.
To get in the house is the difficult part,
So I'll slide down the chimney of each child's heart.
My sack will hold toys to grant all their wishes.
The supply will be endless like the loaves and the fishes.
I will fill all the stockings and not leave a track.
I'll eat every cookie that is left for my snack.
I can do all these things Lord, only through You,
I just need your blessing, then it's easy to do.
All this is to honor the birth of the One,
That was sent to redeem us, Your most Holy Son.
So to all of my friends, least Your glory I rob,
Please Lord, remind them who gave me this job."

Among all the hay

Mary had a baby boy

And she named Him Jesus

On the very first Christmas night
A wondrous star shone big and bright
It marked the spot where the Baby lay
So kings and shepherds could come to pray

What can I give Jesus, small as I am?
The shepherd gave him a baby lamb.
Three wise men gave him precious gold.
The angels sang of His glory untold.
Mary and Joseph gave their loving care.
But what I can I give?
My heart to share!

The dear little Jesus once lay in the hay (pretend you're sleeping) He slept and he smiled and he grew day by day (stand up slowly) Until he could run (run in place) And could play and could be... A help to his parents, like you and like me!

Got this idea off the Internet. We will be using it in our Christmas program. Kids love it and are learning it with record speed. It is a finger play.

Clop, clop, clop went the donkey's feet. Clop, clop, clop down the stony street.

Nod, nod, nod went Mary's head. She was so tired. She needed a bed.

Knock, knock, knock went Joseph at the door. Do you have room for anyone more?

No, no, no the innkeeper said. We don't even have one more bed.

Wait, wait, wait the innkeeper said. You can use my stable for a bed.

Sh, sh, sh what is that I hear?' The cry of baby Jesus oh so dear.
