Arctic Songs

During the Winter we talk, learn, play, and explore cold places like the arctic. One of the ways we did this was through song.

It goes something like this,

Walking through the arctic

(children echo)

And what do think I saw…

(children echo)

A great big polar bear and he said “stand up”(children stand up) “and shake, shake, thisa’ way, shake, shake thata’ way, shake, shake, thisa’ way and then sit down.”

I used this song as a activity in group time with my 4 and 5 year olds they really liked the movement. After they learned the song and movements I added instruments (shakers/drums).

I also went around and asked each child what they saw in the Artic. Boy did they have fun with that part!

I’m a Little Penguin

(Sung to I’m a Little Teapot)

I’m a little Penguin, in the sea

I can swim as fast as can be

When I catch a fish just look at me

I’m as proud as I can be

I’m a little Penguin on the ice

I think cold is very nice

Then I hop around first once, then twice I think ice is very nice.
