I Am Special…….Yes I Am!  (Sung to London Bridges)
I am special
Yes I am
Yes I am
Yes I am
I am special
Yes I am
I am very special
No one has a nose like mine
a nose like mine
a nose like mine
No one has a nose like mine
I am very special
Ask the children what makes them special and insert it into the song.

A fun name song to sing with the children is “Willoby Walloby”. First, ask a child to name a letter of the alphabet. If his name is Matthew, and he names the letter ‘W’, then you sing “Willoby Walloby Watthew, an elephant sat on Matthew. Continue around the circle with all the children. If they name the letter ‘B’, then sing “Billoby Balloby Batthew, an elephant sat on Matthew.” The children love this, and they all want to name a letter.

Here’s a great song to introduce the topic. It’s a great lead in to a discussion about how we can be anything we want to be and about how special and unique each one of us is.

(Tune: Twinkle, twinkle)
Special, special, special me
How I wonder what I’ll be
In this big world I can be
Anything I want to be
Special, special, special me
How I wonder what I’ll be

This one’s great to introduce body awareness to infants and toddlers. I just make up a tune or use it as a chant

I have 10 little fingers and 10 little toes
2 little arms and 1 little nose
1 little mouth and 2 little ears
2 little eyes for smiles and tears
1 little head and 2 little feet
1 little chin
That’s me complete
